On Friday 8th October I was fortunate to be amongst a small group of people invited to attend the unveiling of the Community Windrush panels, commemorating the story of the Windrush through Leicester’s Caribbean community.
The panels were developed by the community to commemorate the story of the Windrush through Leicester’s Caribbean community. Baroness Floella Benjamin DBE shared some of her story of her family’s journey to the UK and their experiences of racism.
What loved about hearing Baroness Benjamin speak to us what her unashamed, unapologetic telling of her experiences. I came away inspired and motivated to be my best self and to be proud to be who I am.
