We here in the UK have been given an extra day in recognition of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. So have a four-day weekend. I’m not sure this has happened before.
The official date of the Queen’s birthday is usually celebrated on the second Saturday in June. Due to Platinum Jubilee, the government has brought the two dates together giving us Thursday and Friday as Bank Holidays.
In our modern society of almost twenty-four-hour service, it doesn’t mean that no one is working.
Queen Elizabeth II is the third-longest service monarch in western recorded history.
She has also gained the title of also being the longest-serving female head of state. Two well-deserved achievements.
Congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II. Wishing her many more years to come.
