As I look through my year and think about what I want to achieve, and how I’m going to do these things, (always focusing on achievement) I also am careful to plan into my year, specific times for creative, inspirational, and positive influences.
This can include a variety of things and situations, but in this post, I wanted to mention the positive influences and energies we can get from specific people.
If we take a moment to think about it, we all have people in our lives that when we spent even the smallest amount of time in their presence we feel uplifted. Then there are others who so enliven our minds and creative thoughts that we look forward to just having a conversation with them. Not necessarily doing anything more than sipping a refreshing drink and talking about any and everything.
The main thing I believe many of us came away with as a result of the lockdowns, me included, was how important people and our connections with others are for human mental and emotional wellbeing. I’m working to encourage myself not to go back to the old ways of rush, rush, rush, and forgetting to purposefully slow down and inject the all-important medicine of quality human connections.
The funny thing is that these positive, uplifting, and creative conversations can come from and be had with friends, family, as well as clients and business connections, not forgetting the obvious training, coaching, and mentoring sessions we might plan into our strategy for personal and business development.
My point here is that I make the planning of these events, the intentional peppering of occasions like these, part of my personal development process. But just as importantly I don’t put pressure on myself or anyone else to get anything out of the occasion.
That may sound a little bit confusing. My main point here I guess is that for me it’s about the energy that comes with and from the connection with particular individuals I have in my life and have been fortunate to meet and mesh with.
When we get together we both (if it’s just two of us) or all of us (if it’s more) experience, from the conversation we have, an almost spiritual and intellectual up list. During this time we create a space that is enlightening, uplifting, positive, and joyous for everyone. You leave the occasion feeling lighter, brighter, and empowered.
Whichever way you get this uplift of positive, empowering energy that not only makes you feel good about yourself and life in general, but you make sure to plan for it. Not to just allow it to pop up in your life haphazardly but you make sure you schedule it in.

And you prepare yourself to ensure that you are giving out that same positive, uplifting, enlightening, and empowering energy and influence as you’re looking to receive from the occasion and the other individuals involved. Give exactly what you’re looking to receive.
I’m off to send out diary dates with my special people.
Who would you like to plan such a coffee chat or conversation with this year?
