It was both my honour and delight to have received the Grant of the Dignity of an Ordinary Officer of the Civil Division of the Order the British Empire (OBE) at a Honours & Awards Ceremony which took place on 19th October 2021, almost four years ago now.
The recognition from Her Majesty, Elizabeth II was given in her New Year’s Honours List in December 2021.
Due to the Covid 19 lockdown which was in place at the time, I was given the choice of attending St James’ Place for the investiture or having the ceremony take place locally. If I went to St James’ Place, I could only take one person. Who would I take? My husband or my daughter? This was not a choice I wished to make. So I decided that I would have the ceremony done locally, which would enable me to take both my daughter and my husband. This option also felt more personal to me, as I also have the honour of knowing our Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Mike Kapur OBE.
It was a wonderful celebration and I got to meet and speak with many other individuals, some of who have become friends since that day.
This post is an opportunity for me to reflect and to share some more of the photos from that day (I did make a previous post). This post was also prompted by me visit to the Lord-Lieutenant’s website and I say the date of the ceremony.
As I look back at these photos, I realise how much I missed as I was so overwhelmed with my own honour.
