One of the activities taking place closer to home is the research of history, stories, and information about the African Caribbean Community in Leicester. The move is to ensure that there is an archive of the history of the community for generations to come.
Another event that I was invited to was the Carry Bring Come – Leicester Caribbean Archive. A team working with the Stephen Lawrence Research Centre at the De Montfort University and other organisations who are passionate about preserving Leicester Caribbean stories gathered to review many of the photos, magazines, and other memorabilia.
Reviewing, naming, hearing stories, and remembering many of those who have passed made for an emotional yet enjoyable event.
