Perspectives of Black Inclusion

26th April 2022 by Sandra Pollock Leave a Comment

It’s always a great opportunity to be invited to get involved in things related to leadership or equality and inclusion.

Those of you who are regular followings of my interactions and activities may recall that last year in May, at the launch of the Black Inclusion Week, I shared my involvement with Black Leaders Network and the work that they were doing across the country.

Well, we’re a year ahead now, and even with all of the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 disruptions, there has been much work being done in the background on the Black Inclusion Index (of which I am a team member) and Nielsen IQ.

We are not ready to share this report and invite you to join the discussion.  This is the Press Release.

Join Black Leaders, Inclusive Companies & NielsenIQ for the launch of the Black Inclusion Index (BII) Report! This crucial webinar will discuss the findings of the inaugural Black Inclusion Index Report and will delve into the insights of Black Inclusion from both a black and a non-black perspective and look at what the solutions are.

The inaugural BII report found that on average there is a 25% difference between the perception of how well an organisation is performing for Black Inclusion, and the actual reality for black employees.

Black Leaders UK & Inclusive Companies recently collaborated with NielsenIQ, the world leader in data collection and analysis to shape the groundbreaking Black Inclusion Index (BII). The definitive BII consists of a standard set of employee questions, designed to establish benchmarks for areas of inclusion. Until now there has been no clear evidence to indicate the levels of inclusion of Black employees and with recent calls for improvements in Diversity, Inclusion and Equality across all areas of society there is an urgent need to ensure that Black employees are not left behind.

The purpose of the Index is to measure specific areas around inclusion of Black ethnic groups within the workplace and for organisations to utilise these indices to benchmark themselves against peers within their respective industry sectors. The aim? To establish a uniform scale to measure how effective companies are in their pursuit of inclusion of Black ethnic groups.

During this event, we will be answering many vital questions including:

  • Why are there so many perception gaps?
  • How should companies utilise ethnicity data?
  • Are Senior Managers aware of perception gaps?
  • What can be done to practically close perception gaps?

Please do join us and encourage your network to join us too!
