The Big News This Week

13th January 2020 by Sandra Pollock Leave a Comment

The big news in my business world this week is the rebranding and evolution of the East Midlands Women’s Awards (EMWA).

Last October when I announced some of the ideas that I had for EMWA I must admit that I hadn’t completely filled in the details.  But if you know me, you’ll know that that is how I rock.

I move with what’s in my heart.  Where I feel the passion and excitement drawing me.  I follow that.  I must admit that it always works out amazingly well.

Today, I was able to share some of the rebranding of the EMWA.  In particular the new logo changes.  And so as not to keep you in the dark any longer, here they are:

The main logo for The Women’s Awards is purple and gold.  The East Midlands Region will be denoted by the blue and gold, whilst the West Midlands Region by deep pink and gold.  And as other regions come on board, we will be adding further colours to match.  This is all the magical creative thinking of David Major, owner of Creative Direction.   Awesome!  Thank you, David.

A good entrepreneur should also have the ability and the bravery to allow the business space to grow.

So why change now, only after three years, you might ask.  Well, these three years have seen so much growth.  Here’s what our stats look like to date:

In 2018, EMWA achieved the following:

  • 30% increase in nominations
  • 63% increase in attendance
  • Sold-out awards event

In 2019, EMWA success continued with:

  • 73% increase in nominations
  • 33% increase in attendance
  • 300% increase in social media engagement
  • Another sold-out awards event.

Isn’t that amazing?  I’d say it certainly is.  And doesn’t even include year one, where we started from zero.

Then there’s the fact that we’ve been receiving enquiries about expanding the award offer.  Sometimes you start a project or programme and it begins to develop a life of its own. Yes, like all life, this does need to be managed carefully and we hope that this is what we will continue to do, but a good entrepreneur should also have the ability and the bravery to allow it space to grow.

The second stage of this growth will be a new bespoke website for The Women’s Awards.  This is being written and coded as I write this by Creative Directions and should be ready to go live in a few weeks.

So it’s all go, at the moment, and a perfect start to the new year and new decade.  I’ll keep you posted on how this evolution is going.  But in the meantime.  What’s your view on the new logo?
