It starts with excitement

I always find the start of each year very exciting.  It gives me the feeling that great things are going to happen and that I have the chance to start new things and improve on areas that I like to work more on.  And 2020 is no different at all.

I started 2019 by covering a number of shows on BBC Radio Leicester.  With that stint completed in October (I had the pleasure of presenting the African and Caribbean show for 8 months), I didn’t think I’d be started this new year on the radio again, but as life would have it, I’m covering again this coming Friday 3rd January 2020 for Herdle White on his Sounds of the Caribbean Show,  7 – 10pm.   If you can do join me and call in and tell me what your plans are for this year.  You can always find it on listen again if you miss it.

I’ve invited a couple of my favourite local people to help me bring in the New Year on the show.  I’ll be talking with Amanda Leandro, Carol Leeming MBE and Ade Anifowose.

It was Herdle who got me into working with BBC Radio Leicester, so it’s an honour to be covering for him again.

New Year Resolutions Anyone?

So what are your plans for 2020?  Are you one of the many people who start out with New Year’s Resolutions?  I was asked yesterday what my New Year resolutions are and I had to say that I don’t have any.  Yes, you heard me correctly.  I’ve not even thought about new year resolutions.  I guess that’s because I have so many things I’ve been working on from last year that I’m to complete that I don’t want to add more to the list.

The truth is I gave up on the resolutions a while ago, mainly because like many people I didn’t stick to keeping many of them.  I decided it’s better to make more meaningful plans and to focus on things that I’d be more likely to achieve.  Like, being happy.  I can do that.

But I do have plans which are not new but areas I’m working in for the business and the Women’s Awards. You’ll no doubt hear more about that in the coming months.

Keep the fire going

Well, whatever you do, whether you have a list of resolutions you want to work on or like me you’ll be continuing the work you started last year, keep the excitement you’re feeling now for the new year going throughout.

When we feel the excitement it comes from the thoughts of good possibilities ahead.  And even when things don’t turn out the way we would like them to, good possibilities still exist for us and are usually just around the corner.  So hold on to those positive thoughts and ideas you have now and let them take you through to the end of this new year.

Wishing you your best year ever.  Happy 2020.
